AS - Wednesday, August 29, 1984 - North Shore News IN NORTH VAN Two stabbed outside store TWO YOUTHS were treated for stab wounds after a fight outside a North Vancouver conve- nience store early Saturday. ; ’ The two received = stab wounds during an alterca- tion that took place outside the 7-Eleven outlet at Third and Chesterfield in North Vancouver. A total of six males were involved in the scuffle. According to police, three youths — including the one carrying the knife, fled the scene on bicycles before patrol cars arrived. One of the victims receiv- ed a slash across his chest while the second was stabbed in the abdomen and, accor- ding to police, required emergency surgery at Lions Gate Hospital. The incident was the se- cond in the last three weeks on the North Shore that in- volved youths and knifes. Earlier, at West Vancouver’s Ambleside Park, a 15- year-old cut his hand and stabbed himself in the leg while attempting to get at a second youth during a fight. Police are still looking for the three youths who fled the scene of Saturday morning’s knifing in North Vancouver, Cab driver's beating has racial overtones NORTH VANCOUVER RCMP say there may be racial overtones to the weekend beating of a cab driver in the Lower Losndale area. The cab driver, who is not being named, was assaulted by two male passengers who then fled. The driver was cut for stitches across the bridge of his nose during the brief altercation. According to police the East Indian driver had pick- ed up the two men in downtown Vancouver and taken them to a Lower Losndale area address. Throughout the trip, police say, the driver was taunted by racial slurs that col- minated in the attack when the taxi reached its destina- tion.
