The Canadian Transport Commission has issued a statement approving the ap- plication by Aztec Aviation to form a new airline called Skylink. Skylink will commence its service between the Boundary Bay Airport adjacent to the B.C. Ferries in Delta and Vic- toria in mid June, and will offer six daily flights Monday to Friday and four daily ‘flights on weekends. According to Aztec of- ficials, the route between the mainland and Vancoypver Island is presently travelled by $§.1 million passengers annually. Only approximately 360,000 of those passengers are using air services due to the high cost of airline uckets ($43.00 one way) and the need to use the highly congested Vancouver being. Skylink has also made ap- plicanon for a Boundary Bay-Seattle, Washington route. The firm is presently awaiting approval from the Canadian Transport Com- mission in Ottawa. Skylink wall offer this service for only $56.00 one way with four dai- ly flights Monday to Friday and one flight on Saturday and Sunday. The firm will operate air- craft of up to 11 passengers in its first year of operation, and thereafter increasing its capacity to a maximum of 19 passengers per flight. Instead of high capacity, the firm will provide greater frequency of flights to and from the air- ports it intends to serve. Skylink service will no counter check-in re- quirements. Passengers will be checked in aboard the air- craft in order to minimize and reduce travel ume. have New commuter airline The company has just completed the construction of its new 12,000 square foot airport terminal at the Boun- dary Bay Ajrport, plus a large maintenance facility. The firm plans to create 27 new jobs due to its service and hopes to increase the number of jobs as new routes receive approval from Ottawa.
