With the future of the Team Canada in the NASL concept on a_ stuttering, ‘maybe-maybe-not’ hold, Waiters is going ahead with immediate training plans. The most exciting news for Island residents and soccer fans on the lower mainland is that the Canadian Olympic team which downed Bermuda in earlier rounds, wil] take on the powerful Mexicans on October 23 at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria before a return engagement in Toluca, Mexica on November 6. The winner of this round will advance to the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Fifty three players have been invited to the Olympic and World Cup concentra- tion training camp. The Olympic and World Cup training concentration will be comprised of the best fifty three available Canadian soc- cer players eligible for Olym- pic and World Olympic Cup qualifying competitions. Players from the North American Soccer League, Canadian Olympic Program, Canadian Professional Soc- cer League, as well as semi professional and university players will be considered for the two squads.
