The West Vancouver
Firefighters, who are spon-
sored by International Land
Corp. in West Vanc, won 7
out of 8 games played in a re-
cent Slow Pitch Tourna-
ment, taking provincial
honors against other Fire
Departments.

The annual tournament
has been going strong since
1977. Twenty-four teams
were centered from Van-
couver Island to Kamloops.
This is the third time West

Vancouver brought the Carl-
ing Trophy home.

Three days of tournament
play qualified them for the
playoffs on Saturday. As
well as playing defensively
they scored a total of 81 runs
against their opponents in
the eight games.

In the semifinals they beat
our Richmond with the help
of Rex Neffs home run to
break the 4-4 tic to win in an
extra inning 5-4. The final
game which gave them the
Provincial Title in the tour-

nament and the defending
champions. The final score
against Vancouver was 11-6.

The team is coached by
Barry Campbell and Glen
Pederson.
