GETTING READY for the Japanese Arts and Crafts
Festival in North Van Civic Centre, 14th and Lonsdale,
this Saturday, Akio Soyama explains a Japanese print
to Mayor Yack Loucks. The Festival — a salute to
North Van City's sister city of Chiba, Japan, organized
by the North Van Community Arts Council — will
feature Sumi paintings by a well known Chiba artist,
along with other Japanese paintings for sale and
Japanese arts and crafts displays. it rans from 10:15 am
to 4 pm and admission bs free.

addressed the recent annual general mecting of the North Shore Volunteers for
Residents in Care Facilities, held at St. Christopher's Anglican Church, West Van.
The mayors recognized and thanked their respective volunteers, and Chuck Bayley,
newspaper columnist and seniors’ spokesman, addressed the meeting on the care of
the elderly and volunteering in care facilities. .
