N. Van City’s 0-year plan right on track North Vancouver City’s ten year plan of develop- ment is falling slighty behind schedule but is not off track, City council was told last week. Council listened to an interim report on the planned program of capital development which began in 1978 and while go on until 1987. “While the revenues have fallen behind... in_ total we're not that far off,” City accountant Dave Moulding said. He explained that the majonty of money for the development will come from the sale of City land and that over the last three years the City has received $4 milhon less than predicted The City's land sales agent Bernard Leong agreed that the land sales program ts behind schedule. but should pick up in the next year or two “The plan os very suc cessful to date.” City engineer Lom Scout said He said that) the con- struction of the water supply system, the drainage relhef system, and the paving of L830 Braun Speakers ioy 452+ 61 Streets, are on schedule, and the street lighting and lane paving programs are just a bit off schedule. Scott) showed council graphs and a flow chart hinting that work would procede far more smoothly if council stuck with decisions once they made them. Council reacted favourably to the reports by staff members and decided to review the plan again at the end of 1981 or early in 1982. Since the majonty of the money for the 10 year plan is coming from land sales, some council members questioned where the money was going to come from for future development when ail the land was sold. “There's only one place Money 1s going to come from and that 1s by raising taxes,” Mayor Jack Loucks said For this reason Scott and Loucks warned council that the City could not afford to embark on too many major Pproyects “Tm oa said realist,” Loucks “We look at what we'd like to do but we also have to look at where we are going to get the money to doit ” wet, ay ay awmenint ¥ \ # The lease has expired!
