On Saturday at Karen Magnussen the _ Biazers scored two goals just over one minute apart in the closing seconds of the third period to steal a 4-3 win from the Mountaineers. The Mountaineers slide started late in the second period, after having built up a 2-0 lead on goals by Doug Jones and Rick Kent. The Blazers scored with two power play goals and pulled into a 2-2 tie before the period ended. Both men’s and women’s Blues basketball teams met their B.C.1.T. Cougar counter-parts on Sunday for the first time this season, and both recorded impressive victories over the Cougars. The wins were important for Cap College as they and B.C.1.T. have been deadlocked in the standings for most of the season. Going into the contest, the Blues and Cougars were tied for second place with identical 9-1 records in the men's division, while the women’s taems were deadlocked at 7-3, good for third place. In the women’s game, Cap College expanded a 28-24 half-time lead to 60-48 to win the game going away. Theresa Smith was top scorer for the Blues, hitting for 14 points, while Lea Anne Stevens had 12 points. Cap Blues win Cathy Nolan turned in her best performance for the Blues to date, playing ex- tremely aggressively on the defensive boards and blocking numerous Cougar shots. In the men's game, Doug Hale and Phil de Vooght scored 25 points each and Terry Cameron notched 15 to lead the Blues to an 80-67 win over B.C.I.T. At the break, the Blues clung to a narrow 35-32 lead, but in the second half Hale, who was a disappointing 2 for 7 from the floor in the first frame, exploded for 21 of his 25 points to put the Cougars away.
