A man was forced into a van and held at knife-
point on July 13 near the 300-block cf East Ist
Street in North Vancouver.

According to the North Vancouver RCMP, the owo men
involved had a fight earlier that day over money. A ew hours
larer, they happened to encounter each other at the Esso gas
station at 3rd Street and Chesterfield Avenue.

Police say another argument took place and one of the men
pulled our a knife.

A friend of the unarmed man entered the melee but was
punched and knocked to the ground by the man with the
knife, said the police.

The unarmed man, who was still standing, was forced at
knife-point to get into a van.

Police say the abductee jumped our of the slow-moving,
van after a strugule with the driver.

Police arrived as the man with the knife was attenipting to
force the other man back in the van.

Abbas Rajabi Ghodrar, 43, of North Vancouver, has been
charged with assault, assaule with a weapon, uttering threats,
possessing a weapon, forcible confinement and kidnapping in
connection with the incident.

His next appearance in North Vancouver provincial court
is scheduled for Aug. 5, Ghodrat is supposed to endeavor to
get a lawyer before then.
