total of three months and 20
days and received 24 months’
probation after he pleaded
guilty to:

BB stealing a car’s stereo equip-
ment on Feb. 2 in North
Vancouver District;

W the break and enter of a busi-
ness in the 300-block of West
2nd Street in North Vancouver
City;

B failing to go to court on Oct.
29, 1997 and on Feb. 4.

The jail sentence was rec-
ommended served through
house arrest (electronic moni-
toring).

On June 24, an incarcerated
Spence was brought before
Judge Diebolt. Spence was
charged in connection with
removing his electronic moni-
tor and leaving his home.

Diebolt did not recall rec-
ommending electronic moni-
toring as a sentence. The judge
said he had suggested an early
release work program, if
Spence was a suitable candi-
date.

The judge gave Spence a
consecutive 30 days in jail to his
original sentence for the escape

from home arrest.

Theodore Harold Dawes,
51, of North Vancouver, was
fined $2,000 and had his dri-
ver’s licence suspended for 12 -'
months after he pleaded guilty
to being the driver involved in -
the hit and run of a boy on -
April 19, 1996 near Edgemont “-:
lage. Dawes was required to ~
pay $35 restitution to cover the | -
cost of a doctor’s report about 2
the boy. .
