hited ek pa A portable decorating solution keeps everyone happy TODAY I would like to share with you two letters J recently received. One is about a doil collection and plants, and the other a quest to make a large TV set “fade into the background.” We have a large modern televi- sion set (black and chrome) in our living room. It’s a beautiful piece of furniture which we do not wish to part with as leng as it’s opera- tional. However, hecause of the de- mands of my family who want to be able to view from all angtes in our living/dining room, this piece of furniture takes up a large amount of space and is the first thing ove sees on entering the room. How can I keep it where it is, but diminish its dominance in our home? - Your floor plan tells me that . short of adding an alcove to the east wall of your living/diaing : | room, there are precious few op- *-. tions to place your TV set dif- ferently. / | But Ican offer you a sugges- tion, and that is a very low plat- form on wheels (about 30 inches --wide by 15 inches deep and three FREE DEL! On it you can have a whole in- door landscape, low trailing plants at the front and bigger bushy plants behind, just a little higher than the TV set. The ‘‘landscape’’ can be wheeled to the window just beside the TV set when scmebody wants 10 watch. To make the indoor garden complete, you could even suspend plants from the ceiling to just above the TV set. How is this for TV in a greenhouse? Another suggestion is a free- standing screen that matches your decor. It could be like a triptych, all three sections filed with cuts from a large favorite print, or three individual prints which har- monize. - How and where in my small living room can I display a large collection of dolls in the naticnal costume of many different oriental and western countries? They have been stored in my basement for many years, but ! would like to see and display them. Lalso have a variety of piants, several palms, two trailing philodendrons, an:i a basket of plants on a low tadle. Tam bored with the way these are scattered throughout the room and would like to make some changes, Your coilection of dolls sounds wonderful and must hold many memories for you. I agree that it’s a pity to store them in the base- ment. .
