OPTIONS FOR VOLUNTEERS

THE FOLLOWING is a selection
of volunteer opportunities avail-
able through North Shore Com-
munity Services (NSCS).

THE ‘‘Ride for Heart’’ cycling
event needs hundreds of volun-
teers for a variety of positions
such as route marshals to provide
encouragement and information to
‘riders; finish line volunteers to
distribute lunches; a bus captain
to ensure all riders are dropped at
their assigned locations; and peo-
ple for traffic control, registration
and selling T-shirts and helmets.

Training is on Wednesday,
April 22 or Thursday, April 23
and the actual event runs from 7
a.m. to I p.m. at UBC on Sun-
day, April 26.

Volunteers will receive a design-
er T-shirt, lunch at the picnic and
a chance to win a mountain bike.

AN ENVIRONMENTALLY
conscious person is needed to
assist with office work, public
relations and mall displays. Orien-
tation is provided and the hours
are flexible.
