The Goard Seflars-led team representing the North Vancouver Curling Club will contest the B.C. crown with seven other teams from across the province begin- ning tomorrow in a triple: knock-out tournament at the Lonsdale recreation centre in North Vancouver (23rd and Lonsdale). The teams will get a chance to practice on the recreation centre ice tomor- row, and on Friday will get down to the business at hand. On Thursday evening former Canadian, World and Olympic champion Lindsay Sparkes will be the keynote speaker at the tournament dinner. The North Vancouver rink opens the action with a game against Williams Lake at 9 a.m. on Friday. The official opening cere- monies will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday and wili fea- ture all cight rinks getting piped in by Sharon All. Also, local junior curler Aaron Loy will be joined by senior curler John Moffat in the official “first rock” ceremony. The action resumes at 2 p.m. on Friday, with all four rinks in action. The final centre games on Friday begin at 7 pom. Saturday's action will see games starting at 9 acm., 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The championship final is scheduled tor Sunday at either 9 a.m. 2:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. (such is the nature of a uriple knockout fermat). Other teams compeung inchide rinks representing the Kefowna Curling Club, the Williams Lake Curling Club, the Trail Curling Club, the Kamloops Curling Club, the Comox Curling Club, Royal City Curling Club and the Kerry Park Curling Club. The North Vancouver tink qualified for the provin- cials via the Zone 3 double knock-out event in December in) which the Sellars led team posted 23 thrilling final day 10-3 victo- ry.
