and silver medals at last weekend’s junior
Pacific Alliance meet in Colorado Springs.

The 15-year member of North Van’s Flicka
Gymnastic Club won the gold in the beam
event and the silver on the vault. She placed
fifth in the floor exercise.

The Junior Pacific Alliance meet features
the best junior gymnasts from North America
and Asia.

TRIATHLONS... A strong running leg pro-
pelled Mark Bates to second place honors at
the recent World Nature Games Triathlon in
Iguaca Falls, Brazil.

The North Vancouver athlete continues a
strong 1997 season, highlighted by first-place

finishes at triathlons in Memphis and the .

Canadian Championships and on the North
Shore. In addition, he finished second at the
Ironman Canada competition.
