Expansion
project is
extravagant

Dear Editor:

I wish to respond to the
North Shore News item
entitled “2.8m Hall plan
debated” (Oct. 2).

First I wish to congratulate
Councillor Stella Jo Dean for
opposing the expansion and
secondly I deery Councillor
Darrell Mussatro’s excuse for
his support of the renovation
at this time, just because chere
is sufficient moncy in the pot.

I find it ironic that North
Vancouver City can justify
such an expansion, together
with an obvious increase in
staff, at the same time the
provincial government is
proposing to cut their staff by
immediately implementing a
hiring freeze.

Finally 1 believe a further
$90,000 will be spent on extra
staff goodies to be construct-
ed in the basement, including
a workshop, bicycle storage,
first-aid room, lockers and
showers! Can we also expect
the addition of a swimming
pool, exercise room, jacuzzi
and recreation arca Mr.
Mayor?

Our city hall will perhaps
one day more closely resemble
a country club!

naive indeed if they thought
