Thanks for helping cultural celebration Wear Editor: On behalf of Queen Mary community school. | would like to thank the famities and mer- chants of the Lower Lonsdale area for contributing 10 our suc- cessful community interaction evening held on March 2. Appreciating the cultures of this community through a focus on the fine arts appealed to a wide number of people who came to school to participate in art, crafts, dances and food of many countries, The soups and breads con- tributed by Cheers and Yic's restaurants, Carson Graham school, Venice Bakery and Pars Bakery were the mainstay of our community supper. The dancing of Doreen Sillery'’s Square Dancers, the Atash Dance Company, the United Association of Ukrainian Canadian dancers and Gloria Nahanee's First Nations dancers was enjoyed by all. To the adults who shared their crafts and customs we owe a large thank-you. When so much is written about violenee and racism. it is heart-warming to realize that our Lower Lonsdale community contains a diversity of people strong in their heritage cultures, but interested in cam- ing together for learning, for sharing and for celebrating as Canadians, Evenings such as this weave the strong social fab- ric that is Canada at its best.
