Alarm fines THE NORTH Vancouver RCMP is advising the public . that North Vancouver District and City have passed false alarm bylaws. The bylaws impose a $130 fine on the fourth and any subsequent false alarm from a single source, whether residential or commercial. Trustee candidate requests. recount of NV City ballots A VOTE recount for Saturday’s election of three North Vancouver City (NVC) school trustees was requested Monday by candidate Deborah Kitson. Kitson, who failed to win a seat, placed fifth in the race. The: North Vancouver District 44 school board includes four North Vancouver District school trustees and three NVC school trustees. Kitson received 1,248 votes. Stephanie Hackett received 1,264. North Vancouver District 44 trustee Roy Dungey won one of the three seats available with 1,317 votes. Said NVC chief election officer Bruce Hawkshaw, ‘‘All the ballots will be recounted and the rejected ballots will be reviewed.”’ Rejected ballots number ap- proximately 570 in the municipality, but Hawkshaw said 550 of those ballots are blank. He said recounts are now up to the judgment of the chief election officer at the municipal level. He said recounts are done if re- quested by a candidate. All candidates may observe the recount process, said Hawkshaw. A more expensive judicial re- count may be requested if a can- didate is not satisfied with the recount, said Hawkshaw.
