PASSENGER and vehicle traffic
between Horseshoe Bay and
Nanaimo increased in 1988 over
1987.

According to a recent BC Ferry
Corp release, the ferries carried
3,970,313 passengers and
I, 1542, $75 vehicles between Horse-
shoe Bay and Nanaimo in 1938,
compared with 3,722,102 passen-

Hearing Tests Set
For Senior Citizens

(North Shore)—Hearing tests will
be givan at the Beltone Hearing
Centres on Tues. to Thurs. from
10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Anyone who has trouble hear-
ing is welcome to have the test.
Many peopie with hearing pro-
blems don't need hearing aids.
But only a modern hearing test
like the one now being offered by
Beltone can really tell for sure.

Everyone should have a hear-
ing test at least once a year —
even people now wearing a hear-
ing aid or those who have been
told nothing could be done for
them. Onty a hearing test can
determine if modern methods of
hearing amplification can help
them hear better.

The hearing tests will be given
Tues. to Thurs. from 10:00 a.m. to

B.C. SMOKERS will pay more for their cigarettes after
the provincial government announced a tax increase this
week. As of March 1, smokers started paying five cents
more for a pack of 25 cigarettes. The increase brings the
tax on a package of 25 cigarettes to $1.25. On a carton of
