Positive discrimination a bunch of Baloney

NO. | WASN'T going to write on this subject to-
day. But the gorge and the hackles rise and I have

some spleen to vent.

There's been nothing
about it in the local dailies,
unless it was buried among
the truss ads, but the
Baloney government has just
announced the details of its
official discrimination poli-
cy.

It’s known by various
labels: affirraative action;
employment equity; or even
positive discrimination.
Whatever the label, what it
means is that you are to be
passed over in the federal
job market because you're
white, And you are to be
passed over twice if you're
both white and male.

It was clear during the last
election that Baloney was
going to do this. Oh, he
didn’t stand up and say he
would put you at the end of
the job line. He’s much too
much of a hypocrite for
that. What he said was that
litle old Brian loved the
minorities a lot and would
work on their behalf.

Brian-watchers knew what
he meant. And now the great
news is official.

‘Ottawa to favor
minorities in hiring’ was the
joyful headline i in the Globe &
Mail.

This discrimination is as
blatant as Baloney’s polished
teeth. Applicants for jobs in
the federal civil service’ will
now be asked to identify
themselves as members of

‘minorities, if that is what
they are. The question will
be right there on the applica-

tion forms, so. that such -

- people can be hired first.
