Al6 - Sunday, June 12, 1983 - North Shore News keeps right on growing IN JUST FIVE YEARS, the North Shore News Sailing Race has become the West Coast’s second largest com- petitive event for cruising sailboats. Co-sponsored by the North Shore Sailing School, the race boasted nearly 100 entrants last year, up from 80 in 1981. The sixth annual running of this major event is set for Sunday June 19, will run a course from Dundarave Pier in West Vancouver, to Lighthouse Park, the Point Grey Bell Buoy, and finish off Kitsilano Beach. The distance is some 12 miles. “Our race is unique,” says North Shore News Publisher Peter Speck. “We attract so many entrants because this event is for sailors, not necessarily racers. We give N.
