’ todian, Mr. Earl Beaumont, -
retired recently, on his -
birthday. Since 1952, Mr. |

Beaumont has worked for the
’ North Vancouver School
Board in a number of schools
and ‘at Handsworth since its
opening in 1961.

“The most satisfying work ~

people.”

Mr. Beaumont came to
North Vancouver from
Calgary -in 1935, married
Alice Sale (now deceased) in
1938 and raised a son Gary
(presently in the con-
struction. business in North
Vancouver) and a daughter,
Carol Herbert of Garibaldi.

In the late 1930's, Mr. .
Beaumont worked for Kings

Saw Mill and Canada
Creosote, enlisted in the
Royal Canadian Engineers
and, in 1940, the - Irish

Fusiliers. In 1942, he went .

commercial fishing but
returned to. North Van-
- couver the following year.

He has been an active .

member of St. Andrews

United Church since 1952, -

serving as a member’on the
Building Committee.

“He ‘will be difficult to
replace,” said Mr. Leagh
Farrell, Handsworth’s
Principal. “He has been a

staunch supporter of our .

schools, particularly
Handsworth.

He did so many things
well, in looking = after
students, and will be missed
by all of us, especially the
youngsters. His affection for
them is obvious.”
