THE CRITICAL space shortage at
the West Vancouver Memorial
Library will be temporarily
alleviated, thanks to the School
Board.

Al a recent meeting it gave ap-
proval for the library to rent
storage space at Hillside School for
the next few years until an addition
to the Memorial Library has been
constructed and books can be
restored to the main coliection.

According to the library, such a
storage area was not easy to find,
since it had to consist of at least
1,000 square feet of dry, heated,
lockable space, easily accessible by
truck and situated on a concrete
floor able to withstand the consid-
erable weight of densely packed

The approximately 16,000-
20,000 items that will be moved
out of the library will be older
books that are less frequently bor-
rowed or duplicate copies.

All these will be clearly iden-
tified in the computer catalogue,
and patrons who wish to use these
stored books may recall them.

The Memorial Library offers
free home book delivery to West
Vancouver residents who are
homebound.
