The 81 members of the Canadian Aute Vorkers union Local 2200 are proposing that Coast Mountain Buslink increase its SeaBus ser- viee-on Sundays. Sixty-five employees work in operations and 16 on the maintenance side. CAW Local 2200 vice-president Rick Yeiland made the proposal at a TransLink meeting last Wednesday night. The three-tiered proposal aiso suggested refurbishing instead of replacing trolleys and making Coast Mountain's apprenticeship pro- gram more accessible. “All three suggestions were greatly appreci- ‘ated by the TransLink board: George Puil and everybody else said “This is really good stuff,” said Ken Hardie, manager of communications “for TransLink. “On the surface FE think that the board quite appreciated the effort put in by (Yelland) on behalf of the union tu bring that to their attention.” _ * Hardie said the TransLink board referred the proposal to staff for further study. : “Coast Mountain bus company (will study this) from the aspect of the labour contract and what that means and TransLink from the aspect of the SeaBus operating schedule.
