SPORTING their new
school colors,
Ridgeview students and
their parents joined
together to celebrate 50
years.

The sun shone brightly
June 10 as an audience of
approximately 200 watched
school principal Brad Lund
welcome everyone to the
event.

Students wearing their new
teal and purple school T-shirts
sat guictly awaiting their turn
to perform at che ceremony
for their friends and family.

“You all look wonderful in
your new school colors,” said”
former principal. Hazel
Williams addressing the
group. “Although I will miss
the old yellow and gold.”

maypole dance, sang songs
and played music for the
crowd,

Each class made a contri-
bution to a speciai time cap-
sule which will not be opened
again until Ridgeview cele-
brates its 60th year. In it they
placed items like snapshots,
videos, hand cut-outs, self
portraits ard their predictions
for the future.

Bob Sexsmith was one of
Ridgeview’s original students. .
His wife Sheila currently.
teaches Grade 1 at the school.
Sexsmith introduced his’ for-
mer school principal, Harry
Dixon, who gave a speech
about the school and its carly
beginnings.

After the ceremonies, many
of the guests headed to the
gym to look at the memorabil-.
ja and remember: the days .
gone by. :
