North Shore.

The Minister of Highways
has decided we should become
the first community in recent
Canadian history to face being
charged rolls to replace a free
public facility with a privately

Ms. Boone seems to be
operating outside the socialist
framework as she prepares us
for her “brave new world.”
Obviously, she no longer
believes the government has
any obligation to provide pub-
lic services if “expressions of
interest” can be obtained from
a new breed of “highwaymen”
who will separate travellers
from their money.

For those who think the
only economic impact of this
“revisionist socialism” will be
the toll costs of driving vehi-
cles over the “new improved

privately operated Lions Gate
Bridge,” P've got news for
you!

Residents whose after-tax
expenses will increase at least a
thousand dollars a year to trav-
el to work and back, not to
mention any recreational trips,
will find that their real estate
holdings will be discounted
because potential buyers of
their property will make the
same calculation.

To cover the extra costs
will require a pre-tax income
increase of $2,000 at the rates
now in effect in the Peoples
Republic of British Columbia.

This would require an
investment of about $100,000
in low risk securities to sup-
port it, and this is the amount
which is likely to come off the
market value of your house.

Maybe Ms. Boone has
heard our complaints abour
