Car fire an arson case A car fire on Sept. 23, ini- tially believed caused by an electrical problem, is now considered an arson. The car was parked near 15th Street and McGuire Avenue. North Vancouver RCMP investigators say the vehicle fire began in the front pas- senger seat and was caused by a direct heat source. The registered owner of the car is not an arson sus- pect in the case, according to the police. A North Vancouver motorisi passing, by spotted a glow in the car. The man emptied his personai fire extinguisher into a smail space near a window of the burning car. Police say the man’s actions saved seven vehicles from fire damage. Jail term for robber A robber who forced a West “Vancouver senior into a clos- ct was jailed for three ycars. Clifford Allen Letendre, 39, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to robbing the 66-year-old woman. The woman confronted Letendre in her Ambleside area home in the early after- noon of June 4, according to West Vancouver Police. Related charges against Letendre of unlawful con- finement and break, enter and theft were dropped. The woman lived in the 1100-block of Keith Road. Judge Bill Rodgers sen- —tenced Letendre in West Vancouver provincial court. West Vancouver Police officers spotted Letendre walking in the 900-block of Marine Drive. He was arrested.
