Minister Glen Clark asked Ottawa in December to delay destaffing eight of 35 B.C. lighthouses this year. The feder- al government plans to automate all the West Coust light- houses including Point Atkinson in West Vancouver. Clark said staffed light stations are vital to marine safety. Cyclist struck A 31-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man, struck by a vehi- cle while riding his bike at the intersection of Brooksbank Avenue and Keith Road, is in serious condition at Lions Gate Hospital.
