ACKDRAFT — it isn’t being overdrawn at your
bank; it’s an oxygen-starved fire that explodes by a
sudden rush ot air. That’s the type of fire that killed

seven-year-old Brian McCattrew’s (William Baldwin)
firefighting dad back in ‘71. So. naturally, he avoided the
traditional family career and tried his hand ai various jobs.

But he railed miserably.

Finally. though, the call of the
sirens becomes too strong. Brian
joins his elder hrother Stephen
(Kurt Russell} as a member of
Chicago's best smoke-eaters — the
7th division.

However, it looks like Brian's
fresh start is just another fresh
mistake. The first day on the job,
he’s late, disobeys a superior and
heroically rescues a mannequin
from a raging five-alarmer.

But fighting fire takes a distant
second to battling his hot-blooded
sibling who takes every opportuni-
