Joy Leach (Management and the
Professions) has been the director
of development at Simon Fraser
University since 1983. In this posi-
tion she has assisted the university
in’ developing private giving pro-
grams that have led to the suc-
cessful completion of endowed
chairs, improved scholarship and
bursary support, dramatic in-
creases in annual gifts to the uni-
versity and a successful capital
campaign.

She also teaches fundraising
courses for SFU’s Non-Profit
Management Program and Arts

Administration Program.

Judy Rogers (Management and
the Professions), director of the
Equal Employment Opportunities
Office for the City of Vancouver,
has distinguished herself by her
accomplishments in the field of
employment equity, which have
positively influenced training,
recruitment and access of services
for minorities.

She was the driving force in the
development of the Hastings In-
stitute, a wholly-owned city cor-
poration that delivers multi-
cultural training to the city, other
governments and the voluntary
and private sectors.

Bonnie Gordon (Sports, Recre-
ation and Fitness), a faculty
member in UBC’s School of Phys-
ical Education and Exercise since
1965, has gone far beyond her
position at UBC to become one of
the leading experts in sport, recre-
ation and fitness in the country.

She is currently involved with a
