Centre - 986- 2255, festival, **Jazz on the Moun- tain’, in 1983, was a strong factor in the decision to teturn to the area, This year, organizers have broadened the musical scope to encompass the best of the blues and Motown worlds, along with the top quality jazz. This change should tring in a wider range of audience, while still ensuring the return of those who attended the first festival (and those who wish they had). The site of the stage for this year’s event, has been changed to a spot which holds all of the advantages of the former site, while providing greater conve- nience in the areas of food and beverage sales, ad- ministration, catering and security. “Jazz on the Mountain"’ was acclaimed as an Organizational and musical success by the press, the au- dience, the merchants of Whistler, and the artists, themselves. This year's fes- tival is guaranteed to run just as smoothly, with even more entertainment value. The festival starts July 26 and the tentative line up in- cludes: The Geoff Dunn/Ronnie Johnson Band, Powder Blues, Freddie Hubbard, Martha Reeves, Sam and Dave, The Dave Quarin Big Band, John Handy, Tom Keenlyside Quintet, Richie Cole, Larry Coryell, The James Cotton Blues Band, The Elvin Bishop Blues Band, John Hammond, R & B Allstars, Thunder and Lightning, Long John Baldry with Kathi Mac- Donaid and Skywalk.
