Do the men of God who are working to put
South Africa down the drain enjoy their egg in
the morning? Do they worry about the deaths of
those little kids who died recently at the hands of

terrorists?

You may remember the
news item: ‘‘Seven whites,
including three women and
two toddlers, were killed
yesterday when...’’.

The question occurred to
me when 1 heard Rev.
Robert Smith on the radio.
He’s the Moderator. of the

United Church of Canada .

and had been visiting Zim-
babwe, where the World
Council of Churches was
busy batting the
communist-run African Na-
tional Congress on the
head. Terrorism in the
name of God, sort of thing.

The interviewer didn’t

ask about that. But had he .
done so our follower of the.

Prince of Peace would have

replied that black kids have -

died, too.. Besides, we have
the word of our am-

South Africa is, the most
-evil regime in the world.

cused of political crimes. As
soon as nice kind Mr. Lenin
took over, however, all that
bourgeois stuff went out the
window and the Reverend
-Smiths flocked to. Moscow
‘to give him a cheer.

The Tsar was seen as so
bad a villain that not even
‘King George V, his cousin,
dared to offer him refuge.
‘Only a few hopeless reac-
tionaries like Winston
. Churchill had any time for
what was then the worst
regime in the world.

Yet, like South Africa,
the Tsar's Russia had

’ something called public opi-

_nion. -But. ever since the
glorious October Revolu-
tion the country has had on-
ly organized opinion, Plus

. its close relative, of course

— Gulag — where the TV
networks don’t prosper.
.. So now South Africa is
- the most evil regime in the
world. Mr. Gorbachev,

. meanwhile, gets to look like
‘some sort of liberal in the.
., pages of Time magazine.

* timonious idiot if ever there .
was one, tells the U.N. that -

press conferences .in New

bachev? How evil is most
evil?

Oh, I nearly forgot.
When the Great Emancipa-
tion takes place, please

don’t send the Reverend }

Smiths and the TV cameras
to South Africa. They
won't be needed then, any
more than they are needed
in Tran, Vietnam,
Kampuchia, Estonia,
Afghanistan, or the Gulag
Archipelago itself. As for
those dead toddlers, we're
sorry. But you can’t make
omelettes without breaking
eggs, can you? Ask anyone.
