But Mayor Derrick Humphreys pointed out that nothing would be done without detailed, studies of the proposals, and that the presidents of all the ratepayers and resident associations in_ the municipality were being invited to a special meeting to study the budget proposals on March 24. “You can be sure that the pros and cons will be discussed exhaustively. We don't go around spending money before we are fully aware of all that is involved,” he said. Alderman Gordon Rowntree explained that the Ambleside changes had been carefully studied and were supported by the Parks and Recreation Advisory ‘Commission. Closing the road. he explained was important because staff were anxious about the safety of children using the Ambleside playground. “Children are constantly running out onto the road between parked cars, etther to recover balls or to pass from one side of the road to the other.
