Ain‘t B5-Sunday News, October 5, 1980 returns to Vancouver A reprise of the Tony Award winning musical Ain't Misbehavin’ is back for another run in Vancouver, opening at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre October 14 for one week. The musical is devoted to the songs of the legendary Fats Waller and other hits which he made popular. Featured are melodies such as Honeysuckle’ Rose, T’ Ain't Nobody’s Biz-ness if I Do, and The Joint is Jumpin’, performed by five seasoned Broadway professionals. Waller, born in 1904, from the early 1920's on began to be known as a great jazz pianist, a composer for singers and shows and a performer with a distinctive comic touch. He died in 1943 and never really got the recognition he deserved, but his earthy, extravagant and joyous creative power lives on. Ain't Misbehavin’ first opened as an Off-Off- Broadway showcase at New York City’s Manhattan Theatre Club in 1977. The critical and word-of-mouth acclaim the show received If you yearn for Romantic Dance Music, you'll during this engagement brought every producer on Broadway in to see it. Currently one of the longest- running musicals on Broadway, the . show received both the Tony Award and the N.Y. Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best Musical of the Season. The cast features Fats Waller look-alike Clent Bowers, Celeste Annette, Adjora Faith McMillan, Michele McCain and Milton Craig Nealy. : Its popularity has brought Ain't) Misbehavin’ back to Vancouver. Tickets are on sale now at all outlets of the Vancouver Ticket Centre. N. Van concert starts season We don't have much space, and deadline is fast approaching, but there is still time to put in a good word of the Symphony Canadiana which started its fifth season Thursday night at the North Vancouver Recreation Centre. The more than 50 musicians, conducted by Yondani Butt, started off this season of two series, comprising a total of 10 concerts, with three pieces under the general title Romantic Rebels I. The modest but ap- preciative audience had a chance to once more listen to this impressive symphony as it worked its way from the Rosamude Overture by Shubert, through the first and second movements of JERICHO “Now Appearing Aug.7thru Nov."
