The actual cost came in at $23,000 and was covered through the fundraising activities of members of the Wild Bird Trust. The project took two and a half years to complete. The wildlife sanctuary bridge will be officially opened in 1998. Approval permits for the project were obtained from the Vancouver Port Authority, Environment Canada, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the Canadian Coast uard.
