GILES GIGUERE works on a mural that the artist is painting on the
rear wall of the Perfect Setting boutique in North Vancouver. Store
owner Gertie Todd is hoping that by brightening up her parking area,
other merchants will be encouraged to follow suit, making the North
Shore more bezatifel for all. The mural should be completed by
mid-May, weather permitting.

- GRADUATING STUDENTS in

North Varcouver secondary
schools will be awarded almost
$18,000 in scholarships and bur-
saries by the North Vancouver
High School Education Founda-
tion.

In this, its 10th year, the foun-
dation will for the first time award
six new technology scholarships of
$500 each to students intending to
pursue post-secondary education in
the industrial or commercial and
business fields.

Funds for these are being pro-
vided by the Burrard Masonic

Lodge. Four of the new awards are
Ernie White Memorial Scholar-
ships and two are Erica White
Scholarships. :

In addition to these, the founda-
tion is granting 10 academic schol-
arships and 16 bursaries.

New bursaries this year are the
Eve Southwell Memorial Bursary
and the Wilma Morden McLachlan
Memorial Bursary.

Application forms are now in
the counselling departments of all
North Vancouver secondary
schools.
