Japanese culture sampled A HOST of North Shore students will glimpse Japanese art and culture next week in a special performance from the Japan Fes- tival ‘88 lineup. To tie in with their studies, stu- dents from schools including Handsworth Secondary, Lonsdale Elementary, Ridgeview Elemen- tary and others will see a sampl- ing of works of the more than 1,000 Japanese artists and per- formers. “There has been such an in- credible response,’’ publicist Peggi Peacock said of the free performance for Lower Mainland schools. “It’s totally overwhelm- ing — there’s a waiting list of six or seven schools, about 400 stu- dents.” Representing more than 46 organizations involved in en- couraging traditional performing Choirs seek THE NORTH Shore Chorus, an ac- tive community choir, is looking for additional male voices, both tenor and bass, to bolster its sing- ing ranks.
