Thanks to a_ successful entrepreneural run as a co- founder of the Spaghetti House chain, Lee has had a unique opportunity to travel around the world virtually at will, seeking, well, the mean- ing of life. Maybe that’s putting it too broadly. But maybe it isn’t. Lee has been studying such phenomena as _ psychic surgery, spoon-bending, teleportation, ESP, clair- voyance and things _para- normal, He has been putting what he has learned into words. And it ain’t easy. The stuff Lee has been videotaping, photographing, tape recording, testing, analyzing and puzzling over is pretty weird, any way you cut it. His main subject, Brazilian superpsychic Thomaz Coutinho, has done such bizarre things as vanishing — ‘‘dematerializ- ing’’—-before Lee’s eyes, creating fabulous statues out of tinfoil just by cupping the stuffing his hands, causing metal folding chairs and spoons alike to melt at his touch, and bringing dead tissue to life in the form of an insect. Let’s get back to talking about the meaning of magazine article about Lee’s adventures in the twilight zones of The Phillipines and Brazil, investigating the same psychic healers that rational West Vancouver doctors love to hate. Not surprisingly, the debunkers and _ scientific Probably the most mind- boggling encounter, for me, was a session with Deep Cove psychic David Young. He just saw too may things for him not to be tapping into some very mysterious wave- lengths. And, of course, once you Start wondering about life itself, you are pretty quickly wandering through some ““Once you start wondering about life itself, you are wandering through some strange turf.’”’ types screamed themselves blue. What? More publicity for that disreputable psychic trash? Can’t say I blame them. I’ve had a chance to examine Lee’s study. I know the man. I} can look him in the;eye. And STILL it all seems too wild to believe, even though I am absolutely convinced he was recording the facts, m’am. A decade ago—well, make that more like two decades ago—] also scoffed at tales of psychokinesis, precognition and telepathy. But like most grown people, I have seen too many inexplicable things happen in life for the ‘‘para- normal’’ to be totally dismissed. strange turf. Isn't the mere fact of existence a little, ahem, paranormal? What universe are we existing in anyway? And while we’re at it, what IS a universe? What am I? Is the universe a seamless con- tinuum in which nothing is really separate? Are we all part of the same thing? Am 1 you and you are me and we are altogether. Like that? Not content to merely document a zillion cases of bizarre weirdness, my friend Lee has made a magnificent effort to make sense of it all. Ambitious? Sure thing. If you're going to theorize about the nature of existence, you might as well go for the whole hog. I mean, why just speculate on a piece of the ac- tion? Get cosmic right away. So, partly as a public ser- vice to help get your minds off the election now thankfully ebbing behind us, I promise to give an updater, as we say in the trade, based on Lee Pulos’s research and discoveries, about the state of the art in cosmic thinking.
