SECTION Editor: ANDY FRASER NS skaters domi December 10, 1980 Winter Club sweep awards By CAROLE STAFFORD Jubilant skaters from the North Shore Winter Club won the team trophy and 20 of 50 awards passed out at the BC Section Figure Skating Championships held in Richmond over the weekend. The club claimed seven of 16 titles and will send 27 skaters to the Western Division Championships month. All told, North Shore skaters will comprise about half the BC contingent in Red Deer. The Winter Club took three and a half of the four senior titles, as their Tracy Wilson and partner Mark Stokes of the Vancouver Club won the senior dance Katherina Matousek and Eric Thomson were un challenged for the semor pairs title. while Heather Anderson = retained the semor ladies title, defeating the onc other constant Nonite Robertson. of Kernsdale Denms Cor had further to chmb after figures but his dynami ands artful frec skating in both the short and long programs gave tim a clear win over Neal Giroday also of the Winter Club JUNIOR CHAMP OVERTAKES Jumor Men's champion Neil Paterson of Hollyburn also came from behind after figures with a clean, crisp short program to establish his lead over Winter Club's Brad Maclcan Though his long program suffered from a few minor mistakes, it was still good cnough for a clear win He performed a good vanicty of well-executed double and triple jumps, including a triple toe loop at the conclusion of his four minute program The Vancouver Club's Kerry Spong and Tracy Michael of Coguidam won the jyumor dance with a sparkling performance punctuated with fancy CONTINUED ON PAGE B7 COPING WITH THE pressure at the Mighty Tykes swim meet for 10 and under at the William Griffin pool on the weekend fs nine year old Rajon Rai of the Hyack Club of New West- minster.
