B4-Sunday News, November 23, 1980 EE sport Many personal bests in swim meet Otters pleased with first results In the first swim meet of the 1980-81 season, a Level TI meet hosted by the Vancoyver Pacific Swim Club at Percy Norman Pool, the Otters, under head coach Howard Firby picked up many ribbons. Boys who placed in the top 6 and consequently won ribbons were Mark Tranter who took ist in the 15-17 200 Freestyle, Dean Hutchinson, Tim Lehman, Don Alexander, Bruce Car- penter, Ian Hylands and Adrian Robertson. Success with many per- sonal best swims went also to Sandi Melody who took Ist - and -200— im the 15-17 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle and 100 Breast- stroke, Chrissy Melody, Ist in the 13-14 100 Butterfly, Carrie Lehman and Wendy May. Many of the personal best swims resulted in new level I times: Dean Hutchinson and Tim Lehman in boys 13 and 14 50 Freestyle; Bruce Carpenter in boys 11 and 12, 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle + Tan- Hylands in boys 11 and 12, 100 Breaststroke; Carolyn Reeder in girls 10 and under 100 Backstroke; Andra Anglin in 50 Breaststroke, Susan McFarlane in 100 Individual Medley; Wendy Lehman in 50 Breaststroke; Maureen McTavish in girls 13 and 14 100 Freestyle. Last weekend saw Otters swimming at three different high level meets. Susan May and Michael Carpenter, both 10 travelled to the Twelfth Annual Cascade Invitational meet held in Seattle.
