Mark Sager Patricia Boname - Andy. : Danyliu Diana A career politician with boundless energy, Sager is successful at goal setting, consensus building, problem solving and running orga- nized mectings. The rest of council and staff don’t always appear to be “in the picture.” Smooth style. but. losing patience with the | resentful council watchdogs that yup at his feet. One wonders where . this carefully constructed image ends and the real person begins. With a long record of council and community involvement, Boname brings warmth and caring to her role as chatelaine of the arts. Supports youth, seniors, recreation and other “soft” issues, but will fight for her beliefs, if necessary. She lacks a killer political instinct and tends to be less composed and effective during nasty exchanges with fellow councillors. Danyliu promotes financial accountability and defends West Van's version of the working: guy, his family and his neighborhood. Somewhat excluded from the “establishment,” but protects the sta- tus quo. An impassioned and entertaining speaker, Danyliu gets -eye¢s rolling when he gets’ on about “our sick society.
