partially paid for by the
province.

Council then passed a
motion asking the GVRD to
prohibit logging in the
Capilano watershed.

Dykeman, who is a GVRD
board member, sent that mes-
sage in a letter to the GVRD
water board chairman on Dec.
19, 1994,

According to a March 10
GVRD water committee staff
report. North Vancouver's ini-
tial concerns over road dam-
age “clearly illustrates the dis-
trict’s ongoing preoccupation
with either banning or at least
impeding logging activity in
both the Capilano and
Seymour watersheds ... the
longer term consequences of
such actions are significant.”

Dykeman criticized the
wording of the = report:
“*Preoccupation’ does not
describe the activities of North
Vancouver District. Council.
We do a lot more than just
worry. about logging in the
watershed.”

The GVRD is conducting
an ecological inventory within
the Capilano watershed this
year.
