A veteran United Nations scientist
says that he not only believes in
the. existence of a large, ape-like
creature known as the sasquatch
— he claims to have the physical
evidence to prove it. Wildlife

biologist John Bindernagel says he
realizes fhe risks being riducufed
for saying so publicly, but thinks
there is enough scientific evidence
to conclude the hairy creature lives
in the Pacific Northwest. ‘‘There’s
evidence out there, sightings,
stories, tracks, even film
footage,”’ Bindernagel said in a
recent interview, ‘To me, that’s
satisfactary evidence that there is
such an anima! as the sasquatch.”
He added that in 1992, while
visiting a friend’s cabin on Van-
couver {sland, he heard what he
believes to be sasquatch mating
calls. ‘We knew they weren't
bird, they weren't wolf and there’s
No coyote on the island,’’ he said.
For years, he said, he has kept
quict about his sasquatch beliefs
for fear of being branded a
“kook” by fellow scientists.

In July, retired Air Force Major
Bill Smith filed a lawsuit in Fort
Worth, Texas, against. the estate
of Elvis Presley, charging that the
estate has been *‘perpetrating a
fraud’’. that Presley died in 1977.
Smith says the: estate’s ‘claim’!
interferes with his attempts to sell
his books on Evlis’ current
whereabouts.
