The organization's executive director John Leech points out that the country has seen a reduc- tion in the number of students enrolling in technology programs. The group encourages young students to continue with math and science courses through to the Grade 12 level in order to keep options open for post-secondary education leading to a career in technology. ASTT points out that salaries in the technological field tend to be higher in range when compared with those in other industries. A projected shortage of skilled technical workers is expected to boost wages. The group surveys its members every two years.
