The western side of most

yard while your back yard is
bathed in sun.

The climate doesn’t change
much between winter and
summer but the best bargains
in airfares are during
Canada’s summer. The
lowest airfare at present is
$1210 return (CP Air) but
this drops to $932 after April

check very carefully before
booking any tour that offers
so much for so little.

One of the finest ways to
spend some of your time in
Fiji is on a cruise of the
islands. Probably the most
famous of these is the Blue

Lagoon Cruise which takes -

between 40-50 passengers
through the Yasawa Islands
with frequent stops for
barbeques, picnics and swim-
ming. The prices start as low
as $275, sharing a triple
cabin.

need for a vacation in Fiji.
Aside from the dining rooms
of the major hotels beach and
sun wear is all you’ll need.

“*mekes’’ on a rotating basis
every night. A meke is a
hative musical festival,
featuring ancient war dances
and choral singing.

Many of the mekes include
a native barbeque, with
various meats either grilled or
cooked in a stone pit. Huge
selections of tropical fruits
and vegetables complete the
menu and visitors are always
impressed with the variety
and excellence at the buffet.

The population of Fiji is
about equally divided bet-
ween native Fijians and East
Indians who were originally
brought to the islands to
work in the sugar and cotton
plantations. There is a small
number of Chinese and
British as well. There is a
natural rivalry between the
different races but
remarkably little tension.
