North Shore Health
Region (NSHR)
resigned his job effec-
tive last Thuisday.

an Anglican priest.

Hamlin was in the News
recently concerning a contro-
versial move by a NSHR “spir-
itual-care advisory group” to
change the hospital's chapel to
a multi-faith quiet room. The
chapel contains a cross and
portrait of Jesus.

The change to a multi-iaith
quiet room did not occur.

has no plans

Adams said Hamlin has no per-
manent replacement, bur on-
call clergy are available in the
health region.

Adams said there are no
intmediate plans to replace the
chaplain.

“We have to look at the
issue of how to provide spiritu-
al care across a region rather
than a specific facility (Lions
Gace Hospital) and also recog-
nize that we have a whole

one celigious faith,” said

The chaplain’s annual salary
was $69,000, including bene-
fits.

Adams said the chaplain
was used by people who did
not have the © own church or
by people who weren't spiritu-
al until they found themselves
in a bospital environment.

The chapel, complete with
cross, is still in the hospital.

Hanlin started his full-time
chaplain’s job about a year ago
for NSHR.

Adams said NSHR sup-
ported the chaplain during the
controversy over the chapel’s
existence in the hospital.
