Just in time for summer, The Sylvan Learning Foundation has launched Book Adventure, a free online program that is intended to motivate students across the North Shore to achieve reading success with today’s interactive, made-for-kids technology. “In this age of point and click, it’s more important than ever: for children to have strong reading skills,” said Adrian Parker, director of the Sylvan Learning Centre, North Shore. Book Adventure is the first non-profit organization to focus exclusively on motivat- ing kids to read Book Adventure, according to Parker, is* being offered frec of charge on the Internet to bring the excitement of reading into as many North Shore homes and classrooms as possi- ble. Book Adventure uses computer rechnolo- gy to lead students back to the library and to encourage them to read longer, more fre- quently and with greater comprehension.
