Jererny Dalton deserves full marks
and commendation for his alert-
ness and responsible spproach to
dealing with the urgent need for a
Westview overpass.

This crucial highway junction
should have been overhauled at
the same time the Cassiar connec-
tor and Lonsdale/Upper Levels
overpass were built, as it is almost
pointless building one without the
other.

The Westview intersection is the
only remaining bottleneck along a
major Trans-Canada ariery that
seems much important trucking,
business, tourist and focal traffic
going to and from the Horseshoe
Bay ferry, Whistler and elsewhere
on a steadily increasing basis.

The intersection currently is a

haven for accidents and can slow

highway traffic down,

can take several miles to

unwind and catch up again after

being delayed at the Westview
light.

tt is weil understood that the

that Highways has been one
department that has been inten-
Gonally sacrificed in order to
divert precious funds towards
other “‘more importani’’
ministries.

The fact remains that the
Westview junction should have
been dealth with long ago and at
the same time as the other over-
