bank robber

NORTH VANCOUVER RCMP sre searching for a man who rob-
bed the National Trust March 2.

A lone male entered the bank, located at 1407 Lonsdale Avenue, |

at approximately 8 p.m. The man robbed the bank of an un-
disclosed quantity of cash. No weapon was produced.

The suspect is described by police as being approximately 30
years of age, 5°10°’, 150 pounds, with dark hair, a beard and a
mustache. The man was wearing 2 quilted, thigh-lesgth. royal blue
ski jacket. He was last seen leaving the building and heading north
on Lonsdale.

Information regarding this robbery may be forwarded to North
Vancouver RCMP Col. B.R. Douglas at 985-1311.

NV service
station robbed

THIEVES MADE off sith a quantity of cash after breaking into a |

Pemberion Avenue service station March 3.

North Vancouver RCMP responded to ao intrusion alarm origi-
asting from the service station at approximately 6 a.m.

Upon irrival, investigating officers found that entry had teen
attempted by someone removing a piece of plywood which had
been covering a window broken during a previous break and entry.

When employees arrived for work at 3 a.m. March 4, they found
that their shop had been illegally entered overnight. Access to the
building was gained through the roof. Thieves used nearby pallets
to get to the roof and then found the roof hatch unlocked and
climbed in.

Police warn business owners to be extremely cauthous and not
provide such easy methods of entry for criminals.

Prohibited driving
lands man in jaii

A BURNABY maa was fined March 2 in West Vancouver provin-
cial court fcr driving without insurance and driving while pro-
hibited.

A maz driving 2 motorcycle was stopped by West Vancouver
Police in the 6200-biock of the Upper Levels highway June 21. The
driver was unable to produce registration papers for the vehicle
whea requested to do 50.

James Vinceat Gumbleton, 25, of 2-3969 East Hastings Street, |

received a $355 fine for driving without insurance, and received s
$300 fine, 20 days jail and a one-year driver's licence suspension
for driving while prohibited.

A 20-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was sentenced Tuesday in
North Vancouver proviacial court to seven days in jail sad fined
$300 after he pleaded guiliy to driving while he was prohibited to
do so.

Michse] O’Donohbece was originally charged in connection with 2
Nov. 4, 1988 incident on the Low Level Road in North Vancouver.

ry. To make it more durable, goid is alloyed with other metals such
as copper, nicke! or paliadium.

Eighteen kernt gold is 18 parts gold and six parts other metal.
Fourteen karat gold is 14 parts gold and 10 parts other metal. Look

-for « manefacturer’s trademark. Anything less than 10 karat can-
not carry a karat designation.

Gold-filled or gold-plated jewelry has a metal base that is coated
with karat gold. Geld-fiiled jewelry contains more gold and may be
expected to weer better thin gold-plated pieces. Goid-electroplated
items contain a very small quantity of goid. Gold-washed jewelry
contains ever less.

Remember that when a deal sounds too good to be true, it prob-
ably is.
