daytime running lights that
operate at 60% capacity any time
the vehicle is running, but for
drivers with older cars, these can
be added to any vehicle.

A windshield wiper failure can
surprise people because they
deteriorate slowly over time, and
may not be noticed,.he said.

Teeple also recomended caution
in choosing some of the new two-
or three-blade wiper systems on
the market.

More blades cause more drag
on the windshield, he said, and
that can cause premature wear on
the wiper blade motor.

AirCare inspections are confus-
ing some of their clientele because
they are uncertain of what the
problems are when they fail a test,
said Teeple.

But drivers can avoid last-
minute repair rushes simply by
having a tune-up before getting
the vehicle tested.

“‘A tune-up can be a fix.’’

The. biggest mistake can be
showing up at an AirCare inspection
Station the day before the in-
surance runs out. “‘If there is a
problem, they’re left with one day
to fix it, but usually it doesn’t
take only one day.""

Teeple recommended getting the
inspection done: three weeks in
advance, and reminds motorists
that if they have had to wait in a
lineup, the car should be hot when
it is tested.
