Otters collect medals in

THE WEST Vancouver Otters
Swim Club swam to success at the
short course B.C. Open Age
Group Championships held Feb.
20 through 22 in Victoria.

Top winning Otters’ medalist
was Claire Matthews, who swam
100 per cent personal best times
and won five medals in the 13 and
14-year-old girls’ age group.

Matthews won the silver medal
in the 200-metre backstroke and
bronze medals for third place in
the 100-metre backstroke, 100 and
200-metre breaststrokes, and the

200-metre individual mediey. In
addition, she won a fifth-place
ribbon in the 30-metre freestyle
event.

Kathryn Pellatt was the B.C.
champion in the 13 and 14-year-
oid girls’ 100-metre backstroke. In
addition to her gold medal, Pellatt
added a bronze for third place in
the 200-metre backstroke.

Also swimming 100 per cent
personal best times, Pellatt placed
fifth in the 100-metre butterfly,
seventh in the 50 and 100-metre
freestyle, seventh in the 200-metre

Steve Marshall and Kirsten

Taberner, both swimming in their

first provincial age group champi-
onship meet, made finals with per-
sonal best times in the 10 and
under vge group.

Marshall took filth place in the
boys’ 50-metre breaststroke and
sixth place in the boys’ 100-metre
breast.

Taberner took eighth place in
the girls’ $0-metre freestyle.
