Zorba dances
into Vancouver

ANTHONY QUINN, starring in
the musical, Zorba will be at the
Queen Elizabeth Theatre March 26
to April 6.

The story centres on Zorba, the
Greek peasant who strikes up an
acquaintance with Niko, a shy
young student. Intent on teaching
the young man the joy of ‘‘seizing
the moment", Zorba joins his
friend on a ramble of experiences
throughout Greece.

This tale of one man's robust
passion for living life to the fullest
won popularity first as Kazant-
zakis’ novel in 1953, followed in

1965 by the film version, Zorba
The Greek, starring Quinn.

A national tour, starring An-
thony Quinn, premiered in
January 1983 in Philadelphia. The
tour continued after ten months on
Broadway, closing in Phoenix in
June 1985.

This encore national tour marks
Quinn’s final appearance as Zor-
ba.

Local performances are at 2
p.m. and 8 p.m.
